I was over a family friends house last night and they were going to have a garage sale and they let us come in and take whatever we want before they were going to go and sell it.
I saw this and asked if I could have it, I was just wondering whether anyone would know anything about it like whether I can still buy film for it, how good it is. I searched up and read that this model was made in 1961 but I don't know how accurate that is.

I had one like this as my first camera in the late 60's until I managed to drop it while climbing in Scotland. Great little camera and a wonderful way to learn the fundamentals of photography.
Certainly here in the UK you can still get the film and get it processed and put on CD so that you can edit online.

Is it 35mm or 12o roll film? If it's 35mm you must still be able to get film! It's what I used before it all wen to this newfangled digitiserational thingie (Okay, I made that word up!)

No worries. Be interested in seeing the results! Part of me misses 35mm photography. You had to build up a whole working knowledge of how different Black&white film makes reacted in different development chemicals to create different negatives. I can not remember half of it now! I used to "push" film, which meant using 400ISO film at, say, 1600ISO, which would be pushing it two stops. Basically, under-exposing the film. You would then have to adapt chemical strength and/or development time to get a good negative. This would lead to a grainier feel to the image (and allow you to work in lower light and/or faster shutter speeds). One bit I do not miss is mixing all the smelly chemicals, much easier to stick a SD card into a PC and sip on a coffee! :-)

It;s a great model. You can still buy and process film from the photo lab at K mart, but unless you have your own darkroom or are able to have the film put onto a hard drive it's more difficult to get the images you want as everything has to be done manually at point-of-shot.
Hope this is helpful : )
